Having noticed the trailers for this film I have to say that I didn't stroll into the cinema with high hopes. The laptop results seemed badly integrated, the Green Goblin's costume appeared awful and comic e book diversifications generally have such painful scripting and plotting. Thankfully I was wrong on maximum counts (The Goblin nonetheless seems garbage).
As it turns out, that is most probably the best super-hero film I've but noticed - certainly up there with Superman and Batman. People appear to robotically comment that the script and acting was bad as a result of they be expecting it to be the case in those films; and certainly it generally is. But in case you pass into Spider-man with out this prejudicial attitude you can be pleasently suprised. The acting is generally great - there's by no means a time when someone isn't believable as their personality and you think "Hey, that's an actor, not Peter Parker". The results do glance artificial but the tempo of the movie approach you would not have time to stay in this and the script is fine! What do other folks need, Shakespearian soliloquies? That would sound extremely out-of-place in modern day New York. There are few of the painful cliches or dreadful dialogue that plague motion pictures like The Phantom Menace and the catchphrases like "friendly neighbourhood spider-man" are absolutely in-keeping with the character.
The comic turns from J.J. Jameson hit the mark, the snarling facial contortions of Willem Defoe have been suitably evil-looking (and the dialog with his mirror-image used to be a really perfect touch). My best gripe was once with the Green Goblin's dress. Very monotone inexperienced and not very horrifying.
All-in-all a really perfect movie that I would not hesitate for a second in recommending.
